The survivor-centered approach during investigations into war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in Syria was also discussed. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWitnesses are the lifeblood of criminal trials. But legal proceedings can be extremely difficult for witnesses. Retelling experiences, which were often traumatic, can lead to physical and emotional exhaustion, and the possibility of being retraumatized looms forever.
