Huquqyat member, lawyer Rasha Shahbaz, participated in a human rights and legal seminar organized online by the Institute for War and Peace Reporting on 25 January 2026, which addressed the topic of missing people in Syria, the leaks of the Damascus file, and the role of the bodies concerned with transitional justice and the missing in dealing with documents, evidence, and the rights of families.

Rasha Shahbaz’s intervention focused on the right of the families of the missing to know the truth, the necessity of strengthening transparency, and setting a clear timeline for dealing with information and evidence, in a way that guarantees respect for the privacy of families, preservation of evidence, and not turning the file into a political or media tool. She also stressed the importance of involving families in shaping the strategies related to the file, restoring dignity to victims, and recognizing the suffering of women and guaranteeing their rights in registering children, proving marriage and divorce, obtaining official documents, and rights of inheritance and guardianship.
