Huquqyat co-founder Mariana Karkoutly participated in a virtual event hosted by The Syria Campaign on 16 April 2024. The event hosted a prominent group of experts and human rights defenders, including Dr. Nahed Samour, Catriona Murdoch, and Uğur Ümit Üngör, and was moderated by Arwa Damon.
The discussion at the event focused on urgent human rights issues in Gaza and Syria, where new evidence was presented regarding the starvation policy pursued by the Syrian regime that affected Palestinians in Yarmouk Camp. Proposals were also raised regarding several pathways for pursuing accountability processes, and the speakers called for an end to the ongoing starvation imposed on the people of Gaza.
