Huquqyat, in collaboration with Global Rights Compliance (GRC), developed the Kneel or Starve investigation – Legal Submission, which examines the use of starvation in Yarmouk and South Damascus as a method of warfare. The case file was submitted to the International, Impartial and Independent Mechanism (IIIM), the Independent Institution on Missing Persons in the Syrian Arab Republic (IIMP), and prosecution authorities and war crimes units in Europe in 2026.
Together, these case files reflect Huquqyat’s strategic focus on understanding how siege-related crimes were carried out, how civilians were affected, and how patterns of violence may support future accountability efforts. Our investigations combine survivor and witness testimonies, legal analysis, contextual research, open-source and closed-source materials, and collaboration with relevant experts.
Because this work involves sensitive information and ongoing legal processes, Huquqyat does not publicly disclose detailed findings, confidential materials, witness information, or information that could compromise survivors, witnesses, affected communities, or the integrity of accountability efforts. Huquqyat shares findings only where appropriate and in line with survivor consent, witness protection, data security, and legal safeguards.
